Beatrice, a theater actress with a bad reputation is rejected from the role she desires most. When she discovers that the role went to her ex-husband's new bride, she spirals into the tragic trajectory of Medea, the character she so badly wanted to play.

She sends the bride a gift through her son, a gift that sends the bride into the hospital.  While his new bride suffers, the groom realizes the strange connection between fiction and reality. When he hears that his son is at Beatrice's house, he drives there in frenzy.
